Hebrews 12:1
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

It is easy to become entangled by the challenges and concerns of the world in which we live.  Take a close inventory of your life.  What worries fill your heart and mind leaving no room for the purposes and plans that God holds for you each day?  Did you complete the homework assignment I gave during the sermon two weeks ago?  Did you go home and make a list of all the things that you cannot control.  Satan desires for you to focus on the things and relationships in your life that you cannot control rather than focusing on that which you are able to control: your attitudes, your words, your actions.

What is hindering you from being fully faithful and obedient to God?  Pastor Sterling reminded us last week that we need to let go of the things of this world so we can go with God.  Let go of the valueless objects that clutter you life.  Ask the Holy Spirit to shine His spotlight on the sin in your life that entangles and trips you up.  As painful as it is to be made aware of your sin, confess and give it over to God.  God wants each one of us to stand firm and walk with confidence and perseverance the race that He has marked out for us.

Do not miss God’s future blessings because you refuse to go to a place that you have never gone go before.  Finish the race that God sets before you every day.

Prayer
Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.  Lead me O Lord and I will faithfully follow you. AMEN.
